NSPM: Nigeria To Print Currency For Ghana, Ivory Coast

The Managing director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting (NSPM) Plc has disclosed, yesterday, that the currency notes of Ghana, Ivory Coast and some other countries will soon be printed by its firm, according to a Ghanaweb report.

Speaking with the House of Representatives committee on banking and currency at the 2015 budget defence, Mr Joseph Ugbo disclosed that apart from the notes, other security documents of these countries will also be printed by the NSPM.

Mr Ugbo revealed that an installation of newly procured state-of-the-art machines for security documents has since commenced.

He further disclosed that the installations were aimed at perfecting final preparations in the build up to the production of the banknotes and other security documents required by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The managing director concluded that the Lagos and Abuja facilities of the company can produce between 1.2 billion and 1.4 billion bank notes while the new facility could print 1.2 billion notes.
