Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says he will retire from football when his spell with the club ends.

The 63-year-old, who is contracted to United until 2017 after joining the club last summer, wants to spend more time with his family.

Van Gaal told Daily Telegraph:

“I am old. This is my last job. For sure.”
“I have to pay attention to my kids, my grandchildren but also to my wife. They deserve it.
“Now I cannot pay that attention. I was not at the birthday of my grandson, for example. I don’t like it.”

Van Gaal said he planned to retire to Portugal with wife Truus and “play golf, eat fantastic food”.
