Last weekend in the EPL was all ups and downs, surprise wins and all. With Arsenal set to face Monaco in the champions league on Tuesday they beat West Ham 3-0, with Giroud scoring a goal assisted by Ramsey and Giroud returning the favor in the second half to put Arsenal two up. Carzola set up Flamini for the third goal and put them just a point behind Manchester City.
And in the surprise loss of the premier league, mighty Manchester City fell to lowly Burnley in a lone goal loss. A Kompany mistake set up George Boyd who made no mistake in converting the mistake. City dropped 3 points, falling behind in the title race.
Chelsea had the opportunity to increase their lead at the top to eight points against Southampton, but Forster did his best to keep them out. Chelsea got the lead earlier via a Costa header and was assisted by an Ivanovic cross. The lead lasted for eight minutes as Mane won a penalty after Matic brought him down in the box. The second half saw Chelsea get a lot of chances but Forster did his best to keep Chelsea out and forced a draw. Chelsea top the table with 6 points with a game in hand.
There was a glimpse of the old United yesterday when they faced Tottenham. The defence of spurs was in shambles as attack after attack tore them apart. Tottenham got ‘Kaned’, literally. Fellaini opened the score sheet 9 minutes into the match, and ten minutes later Carrick doubled the lead. United in the driving seat, it was all but sealed and Rooney put the final nail in the coffin when he scored a wonderful goal. His goal may not be remembered for years, but his classic jubilation will.
