Guilty: Skrtel To Serve Three Match Ban For De Gea Stamp

Liverpool’s top four bid suffered a severe blow yesterday as influential defender, Martin Skrtel was found guilty of intentionally stepping on the foot of Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea and handed a three match ban.

The stamp incident took place in the closing stages of the Northern derby between Manchester United and Liverpool on in the earlier weeks of March in a match which also saw Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard receive a red card after spending just 38 seconds on the pitch.

The referee, Matt Atkinson who did not see the incident, delivered the verdict which would see the Slovakian defender miss important clashes against Arsenal and Chelsea.
