In the UK, they know better than to trifle with welterweight boxing star, Larry Ekundayo. The reason for this is simple – he is Nigeria’s best ranked British boxer in his category today.
The welterweight is a category for boxers lighter than middleweight but heavier than lightweight. And come Saturday, 14th March, 2015; he will be going against the British hotshot – Dale Evans – at the York Hall, London. Ekundayo, touted as the most avoided boxer in Britain, is also known as “the Natural”.
The March 14 fight is a British title eliminator, and Larry Ekundayo who remains undefeated since his famous Sky Sports Prize title win in 2012, looks to take things notches ahead. By virtue of this showdown with Dale Evans –another prospect– “the Natural” puts his undefeated record on the line in a fight billed as the “Ultimate Glory”.
On Wednesday, 24th February; the “Ultimate Glory” press conference took place at The Grand Hotel, Trafalgar Square in central London with Larry explaining the importance his winning the upcoming bout has. He had spoken on his long absence from the ring which was due to private reasons, more especially his little daughter who was battling cancer.
