The AMVCAs came and is gone, but some incidents, especially on the Red Carpet will never be wiped off my memory. Pros and cons, they will linger on my mind for a pretty long time.
I love to attend events, not just for the fun of it but to know how certain things are done as well as know what to do better. This time, I saw a lot. My eyes couldn’t even believe what it saw. Ranging from some celebrities developing wings and ready to fly on the red carpet to the ones with hilarious outfit and cleavage-baring dresses and a whole lot of skin showed.
I’ll start with Eku Edewor’s RedCarpet dress. The red carpet which started by 5:00pm (official time) and was kicked off by Eku and Uti Nwachukwu as they were the official red carpet host. Am sure we all saw Eku Edewor’s dress and hairdo, but I find her whole look funny. It in a way reminded me of the Ekpo masquerades of the Eastern Nigeria. Here is Eku’s dress below.
The way Nigerian celebrities go about the red carpet is as niggling as my mom calls me from my tenth-floor room to come down to the 1st just cause she wants me to help her pick her comb, here is the shocker, she is right beside it.
I didn’t attend the event (I mean, I wasn’t a guest but just a red carpet critic). Hence I was decked in my black tee and jeans, I finished my very normal look with the hotel room flip flops. As I walked about trying to take pictures of Celebrities as they arrived the carpet, I couldn’t help but notice how much of more work a couple of them need to do on themselves.
I wouldn’t call names in any way to protect their PR, but I just believe SUSAN PETERS would have done better without the white feathers, BELINDA EFFAH needs to know the difference between an awards night and a cultural heritage festival, she looks like Medusa, the greek god with snakes on her head; YAW needs to take several seats and style lessons and shouldn’t come to an Oscar’s equivalent award in that manner. His shorts and socks reminded me of my siblings primary school wears.
Did you guys see Denrele’s dress? I mean, we can’t get enough of this eccentric Channel-O VJ, as he stepped out in a lace gold back-baring dress and his signature pumps.
Please where was Yvonne Vixen Ekwere flying to? In as much as she never fails to impress on the red carpet with her ensembles always on point, I think she pushed it too far with this one but then, i will forgive her as she is a first timer on my Offenders List.
And then my best dressed, I need not consult the 2 million fashion demons in my head before I made up my mind that WALE OJO, TOKE MAKINWA, and GENEVIEVE NNAJI were my best dressed for the night. Kehinde Bankole’s dress also wasn’t bad and she was beautiful as she stepped out to win an award and get her 1 million naira cheque.
Phew, I rest my hands until the next major awards night whatsoever, and by the way, it can always get better. Feel free to sound off in the comments section.
