Danilo Struck late to earn the Portuguese side a draw and an away goal as they held Basel to a one all draw in Switzerland after Gonzalez gave Basel the lead.
Basel looked to play to their strengths against Porto and hit the 2004 champions on the counter attack and did so very well in the 11th minute as Gonzalez ran on to Frei’s pas and slotted the ball under the goalkeeper to make it 1-0. Gonzalez, who was injured while scoring the goal was taken off on 25 minutes. Porto struggled for and equalizer and Casemiro had his goal disallowed for offside before Basel gave away a penalty in the 79th minute and Danilo converted to swing the tie in Porto’s favor.
Porto now have a slight advantage with an away goal and a home match in a fortnight, the Portuguese team are looking to pull of another memorable champions league campaign.
