Anyone who played Football Manager from 2010 to 2013 or followed football since 2005 would be familiar with the name Freddy Adu. At 14, Adu was already playing under a professional contract for DC United and was a top transfer target for most European heavyweights. Today, the Ghanaian born American is 25 and is clubless, promoting nightclubs in the Washington DC area.
Adu who was blessed with amazing skills and was a constant wonderkid (a player who is set to be the biggest name in football) on football manager was let go by DC United after he failed to fulfill his potential at the club. Adu tried to get his career back on track but seemed to fall farther behind, playing in Portugal, Russia, Turkey and recently Serbia in the Serbian third division for Jagodina. Jagodina finally let him go at Christmas and no club took the former American under-20 captain. Freddy Adu returned to Washington where he now works as a nightclub promoter in DC.
Adu has given no inclination as to what he intends to do about his footballing career. But let’s hope his career as a promoter is better than his career as a footballer
