FIFA Release New World Rankings, Nigeria Up To 42nd

Nigeria have risen up one position in the newly released FIFA rankings as Germany have maintained their position as the best team in the world.

The top ten remained largely unchanged in the latest FIFA rankings as Spain dropped to 10th poaition in the world while Argentina remain maintained the second position as Portugal climbed above France into 7th. Despite not playing in the AFCON, Nigeria rose one position into 42nd as AFCON winners, Ivory Coast jumped 8 places to break into the top 20 at 20th. Algeria are still the highest ranked side in Africa, ranking at 18th. Ghana jumped 12 places owing to their impressive showing at the AFCON landing at number 25. AFCON hosts, Equatorial Guinea were the biggest jumpers this month jumping 49 places to be placed at 49th in the world.

Libya suffered the biggest drop, dropping 35 places to be places at 115 in the world while Iraq’s impressive showing at the Asian Championships saw them jump 20 places and break into the top hundred at 94th.
