African Cup of Nations hosts Equatorial Guinea have been handed a $100,000 fine after fan violence in the semi-final match against Ghana.

36 people were injured after the Ghana supporters were attacked by their opposites.

Ghana won the game 3-0, which was delayed for up to 30 minutes because of the violence.

“This kind of conduct is unacceptable and we have formally protested against it to the organisers,” said Ghana Football Association (GFA) president and CAF executive Kwesi Nyantakyi before Friday’s penalty was announced.

“It is really sad that these attacks on our supporters almost eclipsed the joy of reaching the final of the competition.
