Bayern came out of the traps flying as they beat northern rivals 8-0 and sent a clear message to the rest of the Bundesliga that they are over their recent setback and they mean business.

It took Bayern 21 minutes of relentless pressure to finally strike a break as Muller converted from the spot after Marcos had handled the ball in the eighteen yard box. Gotze doubled Bayern’s lead two minutes later after some awful defending handed the German the ball on a platter of gold. In the 34th minute, Robben put the result beyond doubt as Bayern hit Hamburg with a devastating counter attack that saw Robben curl the ball in from 30 yards. As early as one minute into the half, Robben doubled his tally, banging in Bayern’s fourth as he eased into the Hamburg box and finished emphatically Muller curled the ball in from 25 yards in the 55th minute to make it 5-0 and one minute later, Lewandowski joined the party, tapping home Muller’s square pass from two yards. Ribery was introduced as a sub for his first appearance of 2015 and on 69 minutes, the Frenchman pounced on a rebound to make the perfect return to action before Gotze rounded off the rout in the 88th minute with a lovely finish to make it 8-0

Well Bayern Munich would head into the champions league second round matches brimming with confidence after annihilating one of their oldest rivals.
