Al Ain forward, Asamoah Gyan returned from the sidelines to put the Black Stars level on points with their Algerian opponents in group C.

Ghana began the match brightly but were unable to create any clear cut chances and a lot of robust tackles in midfield had the game on edge but the referee managed to keep control of the match. Ghana were clearly the better side I the second half and missed a few chances. With the game winding down to a close in injury time, Gyan, who missed the opening game with malaria latched onto a long ball and fired across goal into the far corner to win the game for Ghana.
