TIME Magazine have finally revealed their person of the year. A month ago, TIME released the contenders for the coveted title, including Shekau, The Chibok Girls (which it made a huge blunder with), Vladimir Putin, the Ferguson Protesters, Malala Yousufzai, and celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, etc. It has now emerged that the TIME Person(s) of the Year are ‘The Ebola Fighters’. According to Chief Editor, Nancy Gibbs, “They risked and persisted, sacrificed and saved. Editor Nancy Gibbs explains why the Ebola Fighters are TIME’s choice for Person of the Year 2014” as she explained the choice of the magazine.
The title is bestowed to those who have, for good or for ill, most influenced the news and our lives in the year under consideration and are selected by the editors of TIME, however they still carry an online poll to know the opinion of their readers.
