Eminem and Iggy Azalea might be having a beef of some sort, but for Rapper J. Cole, it is much deeper than that. J. Cole in his new song ‘Fire Squad talks about how whites come in and steal black music and the industry hypes them on. He specifically mentioned Eminem, Iggy Azalea and Macklemore. And J. Cole might be right as Macklemore won Best Hip Hop album earlier this year, an award most agreed should have gone to Kendrick Lamar’s exceptional album. Also, Iggy Azalea beat Drake and Eminem for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album & Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist at this year’s American Music Awards. She is a favourite for this year’s Grammy despite being criticized for having no originality or depth.
In the new song , J.Cole spits;
“History repeats itself and that’s just how it goes / Same way that these rappers always bite each other’s flows / Same thing that my ni**a Elvis did with rock ‘n’ roll / Justin Timberlake, Eminem, and then Macklemore,”
“While silly ni**as argue over who gon’ snatch the crown / Look around my ni**a, white people have snatched the sound / This year I’ll probably go to the awards dappered down / Watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile.”
