The season 9 edition of the Big Brother Africa show continued in the usual style of glitz and surprises the Big Brother show has come to be known for. This season however had a bit of equality as regards the crowning of the Head of House as both genders had an equal share of leaders. Both males and females won the task to become Head of House an equal four times each, an indication that the ladies were at the top of their game in this season’s edition of the show.
Furthermore, the Big Brother Hotshots are in their final week, having spent nine weeks in the house. There have been eight Heads of house who won Eight different tasks to be crowned. However, there was no task to determine the Head of House this week as Big Brother decided that he wanted all the final Hotshots to manage the house together.
Thinking back, the first of the Hotshots to emerge as Head of House was Tanzanian saxophonist Laveda who got the crown for her stunning performance at the opening show. The crown ensured Laveda was safe from eviction for about two weeks in the house. She was however evicted about two weeks after that. More so, the Head of House for the second week was South African Samantha who took over the seat making it seem the ladies were in the house to control the pace of the game. By the third week however, Samantha’s compatriot – Nhlanhla emerged as Head of House to have a male for a change.
Moreover, Nhlanhla’s triumph was followed by that of JJ and Idris winning the tasks to become Head of House in the fourth and fifth week respectively. Soon enough, the ladies took over the Baton of leadership in the sixth week of the show with Sipe winning the task to become Head of House. This was followed closely by another lady – Sheillah, who won the crown in the seventh week of the show. The climax happened when Macky2 emerged as Head of House in the Eight week. The Zambian rapper won arguably the most important crown as he had been nominated for eviction but emerging as Head of House saved him from possible for and ultimately granted him a space in the Grand finale coming up on the seventh of December.
The ladies in the house have sure proven to be worthy competitors to their male counterparts as can be seen from sharing the Head of House crown equally. With about four days left to the end of this season’s show, the drama and competition in the house is at frenzy pitch.
