share on:

Thousands of albums where released all over the world and picking the best five for this write up was severely difficult so please do not envy my job, but looking past that there was so many brilliant albums released this year with these 5 stood out for various unique reasons so get a cup of tea as you read 360nobs Best Album Of 2014 review.

5. WAR ON DRUGS LOST IN THE DREAM

image

The Album centers around Adam Grabduclei’s personal struggles with drugs, death, depression and all his dark moments coupled with the fact that he just came out from a long term relationship at the time the album was being recorded.
He tells the story quite vividly through the album . Lost In The Dream is tinkered to perfection and it’s definitely War On Drugs most detailed and beautiful record till date

ALBUM RATING : A

4. SIA – 1000 FORMS OF FEAR

image

Sia confronts 1000 Forms Of Fear on the album and conquers them successfully. After her major and quite successful feature on David Guetta’s Hit Single – Titanium and her song writing success for Beyonce, Eminem and Katty Perry, Sia’s management successfully convinced her to release her sixth studio album. The album showcases a darker mood to Sia and also showcases Sia’s song writing and vocals which are always astounding. 1000 Forms Of Fear earned the number 1 spot on billboard hot 100 in July 2014. My personal favourite song on the album is HOSTAGE

ALBUM RATING : A

3. SEAN TIZZLE THE JOURNEY

image

The only Nigerian Album on the list is Sean Tizzle’s Journey. After Winning the next rated award at the 2013 Headies, Sean Tizzle went back to the same stage to deservedly pick up the best pop Album for The Journey in 2014. With hit tracks like Loke Loke, Igi Orombo, Perfect Gentleman to mention a few there’s hardly a dull moment when you listen to the 17 track album. We can’t talk about Sean Tizzle’s debut album success without mentioning his label mate and boss D’Tunes. D’Tunes produced 90% of the songs on the album and without him The Journey would have stopped halfway. Personal Favourite song is Loke Loke

ALBUM RATING : A

2. ED SHEERANX

image

Ed  Sheeran  ‘X’  album ( X produced as Multiply)  was an album that asserted Uk’s Teenage Wonderkid as a class talent. X was album full of hit tracks and wo said Soul – R&B songs are boring. It’s had to pick a personal favourite on this album but I’d go with Sing

ALBUM RATING : A+

1. TAYLOR SWIFT 1989

image

Who else but the multi talented Taylor Swift to take our number 1 spot. Taylor Swift moved from her regular genre of Country music to the Pop world and she’s conquered it successfully. In 1989  Taylor owns it unlike ever before. Taylor Swift has continuously made us fall in love with her songs and 1989 is no exception little wonder why she won a prestigious Excellence Award at The American Music Awards this year. My personal favourite track on the album is I KNOW PLACES

ALBUM RATING – A+

  1. I was going to write that I didn’t feel Sean Tizzle’s The Journey (I’d seen it on another top 10 list but after listening it was like, good work, but not my thing. Like Yemi Alade’s album was great work, but my thing is my thing. )
Then I saw honourable mention Tiwa something something that is 1. from a long time ago, 2. far from my best album, it’s like one of the least great albums I own. Actually, the day I bought it, I bought like six naija albums and after the first listen it was ranked sixth.
So thanks, let’s just say our tastes are different. And that’s ok.

  2. You should add “in my opinion”….. The list doesn’t even begin to cover half of the music genres available. Hiphop?, jazz?, rock?

  3. Then again there’s the honourary mentions.. Which i didn’t read previously…but it would’ve still been better with the “in my opinion”
