Kaylor Navas was handed his Champions league debut for Madrid in a game that could have gone either way as Madrid were not at their very best against the Swiss side. Ronaldo’s 35th minute strike was the games solitary goal. Both teams created chances in the second half but failed to convert as Bale saw a shot come back off the crossbar and Ronaldo missed a sitter in the 79th minute. Basel’s Hamoudi missed to great chances to equalize for Basel.

Real Madrid were able to grind out a 15th consecutive win as they march on, looking to defend the Champions League.
