Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho has refuted rumors linking his side to Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi. Mourinho described the rumors of an imminent transfer as “obviously” false.
Messi turned the sporting world upside down when he stated that he could possibly leave Barcelona before he retired has become the subject of every other transfer rumor with every big club in Europe except Real Madrid apparently vying for the Argentine’s signature.
Chelsea were subsequently identified as a possible destination for the four time ballon d’Or winner – who has broken the all-time goalscoring records in both La Liga and the Champions League in the last week. Mourinho has however come out and debunked all rumors linking Messi and Chelsea. Speaking to Journalists earlier today, Mourinho said: “My reaction is that the media world changed so much that the football world also changed so much. And I think, in this moment, it’s so easy, so easy to have non-truths circulating. It’s so easy that some people put news without confirming or speak about rumors. Obviously Messi joining Chelsea is not happening. Obviously it’s not true.”
Despite all these rumors, linking Messi with a transfer away from the Catalan club, Messi looks set to remain at Barcelona for the foreseeable future.
