EPL: Manchester City Skip Past Southampton To Move Into 2nd Place

Manchester City put three goals past Southampton and  cut Chelsea‘s lead at the top as they moved into 2nd place.

Three second half goals from Yaya Toure, Frank Lampard and Gael Clichy saw the Saints record their first home defeat of the season.

City produced a professional display, restricting Southampton to few clear-cut opportunities and clinically taking their own, to take advantage of Chelsea’s goalless draw at Sunderland on Saturday.

City held on for the win, despite Eliaqium Mangala, who was booked in the first-half for a cynical tackle on Dusan Tadic, seeing red after clipping home substitute Shane Long.
