Weeks after Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained, Inglorious Basterds) was first linked to the upcoming Jame Bond movie (tagged Bond 24 for now) Daily Mail is now reporting that the 2 time Academy Award recipient will play James Bond villain Ernst Starvo Blofeld when production of the movie starts next month.
Ever since he first appeared in 1963’s From Russia With Love, Blofeld has since become some sort of icon best known for stoking his white cat while calling the shots and when you talk about villains it’s most certain he’d make it into your top 100. Previously played by Donald Pleasence, Telly Savalas, Charles Gray and Max von Sydow, Waltz’ take on the new Blofeld is described as “sinister as earlier incarnations but will be more sophisticated and less ‘campy’.”
According to Daily Mail, Christoph Waltz’s involvement in the movie will be officially revealed early December adding that ‘The tone of the 007 films has changed significantly in recent years and the producers have changed the character to fit in with the new-look 007.’
If this casting rumor ends up panning out, Christoph Waltz will join Daniel Craig, Léa Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw when the movie gets released November 6 2015.
