Poland have shocked the world and their champions by recording a 2-0 European championship qualifier win over Germany.
In what was a pretty much stop-start first half, Germany controlled the match but couldn’t really fashion out great chances and when they fashioned out the good ones, their finishing wasn’t up to par. In the second half, Poland started brightly and were rewarded in the 51st minute as Milik nodded the ball past Neuer from a cross after the goalkeeper failed to make contact with the ball as he rushed to clear. Germany basically controlled the match from that point on but couldn’t find the back of the net. Podolski saw a strike hit the crossbar before Germany were hit with a counter attack in the closing minutes and Lewandowski unselfishly played in Mila to tap in and round off the victory.
This is the first time Poland have ever beaten Germany.
