Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has lauded Brazilian playmaker Oscar‘s improvement this season.
Oscar scored a fantastic free-kick to put his side 1-0 up at Selhurst Park on Saturday, and Mourinho is pleased with a development.
“Oscar, in this moment, is not a number 10,” the 51-year-old was quoted by the Daily Mail.
“He had an evolution, a mental, tactical evolution that allows him to be a fantastic player.
“Can he physically improve? Of course. People forget that he is still so young.”
The Portuguese coach was criticised in some quarters for picking Oscar over fan favourite Juan Mata in the number 10 role at the beginning of last season.
However, it appears that the player’s excellent performances so far this season have justified Mourinho’s decision to sell Mata to Manchester United in January and stick with the 23-year-old.
