#InTheNews: UNIBEN Appoints New Vice chancellor

The governing council of the prestigious university of Benin, Edo state, on Monday announced the appointment of professor Osasere Orunwese, the former acting dean of the faculty of engineering and a two time rector of the institute of management and technology, Usen in Ovia south-west as the substantive vice chancellor of the university.

The Professor of mechanical engineering emerged as the successor of Professor Osayun, whose tenure will expire on the 30th of November after scoring 78% in the interview conducted by the governing council and emerging top among 18 other candidates.

He was hailed by different groups such as Edo unity league and the Benin national congress who all said that they had no doubt he has all it takes to take the university to the next level and advised him to live in accordance with the template of president Goodluck johnathan and the aspirations of the host communities. They also pledged their unflinching and unequivocal support for him to succeed. image
