Big Brother Hotshots 2014: Are Nigerian Youths More Horny Than Smart? (Must Read)

Barely twenty four hours into the current Big Brother Africa (BBA) Hotshots competition, Nigerian housemate, Lilian, has already resorted to getting her bum massaged by a male co-contestant.

Ever since inception, BBA has been the topic of numerous articles and TV talkshows. The show and its attendant promotion of immorality, has often been lambasted by social activists and concerned parents on the negative influence it could have on the impressionable minds of their children.

I would not attempt to sound like a broken gramophone player and repeat everything you’ve read, but seriously, are Nigerian youths this horny?

BBA is a game, and every contestant goes in with a game-plan; for some, their gamble pays off and they end up being instant celebrities and hundreds of thousands of Dollars richer; for most; their plan unravel before their eyes, and it exposess them for the shallow minded beings that they truly are.

I actually believe BBA is a very great ‘experiment’ at observing how far human beings can go in confined spaces. Having observed the past winners of the game, I have realised that they have often been the smartest in the house.

It’s not about the drinking, smoking, kissing and smooching, that’s just on the surface. But sadly, many contestants are always unable to scratch beneath that surface and play the real psychological warfare; rather they get caught up in the façade of enjoyment and routine chores that BBA poses to be.

One of my favourite Nigerian winners of all-time, Uti Nwachikwu proves my point. While in the house, you will agree with me that he had many admirers amongst the female folks in the house, but he refused to get committed to anyone or make any unnessary show of affection. I recall that shortly before the end of the show, Uti told co-contestant, Sheila, a girl who many believe he had affection for, that he wanted the game to end before they could decisively label their relationship.

However, fast-forward to 2013, and our very own Beverly Osu, was busy showing us all that she is an expert in the art of kissing and cuddling. She even went naked and got together in a hottub with South-Africa’s contestant, Angelo Collins.

Many believe that the duo had sex, but both Angelo and Beverly have denied those claims.

However, if the whole ‘being in love, kissing and smooching-in-the-tub thing’ was Beverly Osu’s strategy, it obviously didn’t work.

True, sex sells, but sense sells better. Namibia’s Dillish Mathews won last year; please how many people did she kiss and smooch? By virtue of her physical endowments, I’m convinced Dillish would have found a very very willing audience had she chosen to go down that route.

Anyway, I hope the bum massage that Lilian got on Monday wasn’t part of her game-plan to use the allure of sex to win, because it wouldn’t work.

I don’t believe a smart girl would allow a guy get such an easy access to her bum so early on in the game. So what’s the thrill? Where’s the suspense? What’s going to make those guys crack their heads trying to get her soft-spot?

Mystery works best, and in boy/girl relationships, the thrill of not knowing what comes next is actually what makes it worth-while. When a guy is trying to get close to a girl, and she doesn’t give him much attention, talk-less of massaging her bum, he gets more attracted, curious, and committed to chase after her.

In closing, Dear Lilian, I address you personally, it’s too soon for such intimacy; shun it. However, I’ll give you a tip: if you want to use sex to your advantage because we all know that ‘sex sells,’ dangle it like a carrot, but never let them chew the carrot that easily.

Do not be controlled by your hormones, because in the next 90 days, you’ll need to use your head more!
