Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois has signed a new contract that keeps him at Chelsea till 2019. The goalie who was widely expected to leave the club during the summer as not only stayed onbut has signed a lucrative five year deal.
Courtois spent two seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid where he won the Copa Del Rey, the la Liga and was part of the team that finished second in last season’s champions league. Courtois returned to Chelsea and looked set to compete for a position in the starting eleven with the more experienced Petr Cech. But the Belgian has played all of Chelsea’s matches in the league this season and has been impressive.
The new deal sees an increase in the goalies wages as well as an assurance of first team football.
