Platini Threatens Ribery With Ban Over His Refusal To Play For France

Michel Platini is appearing to exercise a regime of tyranny as his reign as UEFA president continues. The former French football star has threatened to ban Bayern Munich Midfielder, Frank Ribery if the winger refuses to honor a call up from the national team.

Ribery announced his retirement from international football at just 31 years of age in August but Platini is blackmailing the Bayern man with a statute in the FIFA rules that ensures that players must respond to national team call ups in order to stop footballers from choosing the matches they play in. Platini is quoted saying “It is not the decision of the players whether they come to the national team. This is the decision of the coach, Franck Ribery cannot simply decide whether he plays for France or not. If Coach Didier Deschamps invites him, he must come to the national team. This is defined in the Fifa statutes. If he does not come, he is suspended for three games with Bayern Munich.”

Platini is clearly blackmailing his fellow French compatriot in to playing for France as he clearly stated that the Bayern star would be suspended for three Bayern Munich matches. Platini was also quoted saying “I don’t understand him anyway, he is French and the European championships in 2016 will be taking place in France”. I wonder if Platini would respond to a call up being a former footballer if France calls him up.
