Arsenal failed to replace Thomas Vermaeleen as the defender moved to Barcelona and now they are in a fix as they have turned to Colombian International, Mario Yepes
Arsene Wenger is confessed to be a long time fan of the Wrodl cup star and would be willing to negotiate a move for the defender who is currently out of contract. The move comes with its downside as the defender is well past his prime at 38 years of age. Yepes also has a history of well documented injury and discipline issues.
Arsenal must be really desperate to be contemplating a move for a player who cannot pair Mertesacker in the center of defense due to the obvious reason; the lack of pace shared by both players.
Yepes would be a useful buy as a backup for the first choice center backs, Mertesacker, Koscielny and Chambers but nothing more.
