Real Madrid are close to offering three of their stars new contracts ahead of the new season, with bad news for any Premier League teams chasing a top striker.
Karim Benzema, Sergio Ramos and Dani Carvajal will reportedly be offered new deals at the Spanish giants, according to club source JournalBernabeu.
Benzema has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea this transfer window, after many thought he was heading towards the exit door following Madrid’s rumoured interest in Radamel Falcao.
But the Frenchman is now set to extend his deal at the Bernabeu until 2018, earning a whopping €7million per-year.
Defender Sergio Ramos is also due to sign a new deal that will extend his already lengthy stay at the club. Ramos will supposedly sign until 2019 and like Benzema, earn around €7million per-year.
Right-back Dani Carvajal is the third player thought to be in the process of signing a new contract, as he bids to cement down the role over the next few seasons.
The fourth member of the Madrid squad who could be in talks over staying in Spain is Arsenal target Sami Khedira. The German has one year left on his deal with Real as speculation surrounding his future has been rife all summer.
But it is the reported new deal for Benzema that will surely represent a blow for Premier League clubs. The news of his potential extension may not fuss anybody this summer, but in future should Madrid replace him with another centre-forward, a contract with several years left to run will only mean a heftier price to get him on board.
