Manchester United will try to hijack Angel Di Maria’s transfer to PSG – by matching the £55million asking price for the player.
United have been tracking Di Maria for most of the summer but looked set to miss out on him this week, with PSG agreeing terms with Real Madrid for his signature.
However, Sport says United will now match PSG’s offer and other reports claim they will use tonight’s friendly against Madrid as an opportunity to try and force through a deal.
Di Maria’s agent is in the process of tying up the move to PSG, where he has already terms and been given a shirt number, but United aren’t giving up.
Madrid would prefer to sell to the Red Devils as they could pay the cash up front now, whereas PSG will sign him on-loan ahead of a £55million deal next summer.
The details on whether Di Maria ends up are expected to be sorted after United’s clash with Madrid, with all parties keen on a quick resolution.
