Manchester City pulled off another stellar display against Liverpool to join Swansea and Chelsea on three points atop the barclays premier league table.

Liverpool started the brighter of the two sides but failed to create telling chances and were made to pay for it as Jovetic caught debutante Alberto Moreno flat-footed inside the box and stole the ball before powering in a finish under Mingolet in the 43rd minute. Manchester City continued their dominance in the second half and Jovetic again found himself in plenty of space inside the Liverpool box in the 54th minute and the man from Montenegro had no problem putting his team two goals ahead. Substitute Sergio Aguero needed just 27 seconds when he came on bench in the  70th minute as he ran onto Nasri’s  through ball to finish from inside the box. Liverpool pulled one back through a Zabaleta own goal. but finished the game with 10 men after Glen Johnson went off injured after Liverpool had already made three changes.

Balotelli was present at the Etihad watching his former club take on his new club.
