Jo Wilfried Tsonga claimed his first Roger’s Cup title with a win over Roger Federer.

The Frenchman, who recorded impressive wins over Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov in the previous rounds, won 7-5 7-6 (7-3) in Toronto.

It was only Tsonga’s second ATP Master’s 1000 title win, nearly six years after his first at the 2008 Paris Masters.

The Frenchman’s powerful display against the 17-time Grand Slam winner capped a fine week in Canada that also saw him down Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, as well as Murray and Dimitrov.
