I dread blind dates. The reason is simple, anything and everything could go wrong. I mean, “unblind” first dates are hard enough and now a date that’s totally blind?
You are most likely going on a date with this person because someone has hooked you up but thing is, this person won’t be here on your date so you are going to have to make the date go with as little disasters as possible.
This might help;
Your nerves might kick in and make you slightly conscious of everything around you. Its okay, what you need to do is be calm before you do something that might cause you to embarrass yourself. When you are calm, you would see that you are in charge of your environment and there would be hardly anything that would go wrong.
BE RID OF THE AWKWARDNESS
First dates tend to get awkward. Its normal, you both don’t know each other that well and this is your first date. However, you need to be rid of the awkwardness before it ruins the whole mood of the date. Warm up to your date, be open, take a deep breath and you will be surprised how great the date would turn out to be.
TRY NOT TO ACT DISAPPOINTED
Blind dates are usually harder than “unblind” dates like I stated earlier. And since blind date means you have not met until now, it means the person might look different from pictures or what you expected.
However, try not to let your disappointment show. And try not to utter words like, “Your pictures are prettier”, “wow, you are fat” and any other statement that might hurt the feelings of your date and make them uncomfortable during the time you spend together.
DO THINGS YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH
If you both end up in a fancy restaurant and he/she places an order that you don’t eat, don’t be shy to say no to their own choice of meal. Yes, they can eat whatever they want, but it don’t mean you should too. If the food isn’t your type then go for what works for you, don’t go to a place you are not comfortable with or drink liquor when you know deep down it does not agree with you. Don’t kiss your date goodbye because they seemed to want it and you didn’t want to hurt their feelings when really, you don’t want it.
Only do things that make you comfy.
DO NOT DRINK TOO MUCH
Liquor tends to cause the smartest of people to make poor choices. Do NOT drink so much you become a nuisance. Keep the alcohol at bay on your first date. Play it safe.
WATCH YOUR MANNERS
Don’t talk when you have a mouthful of rice, don’t interrupt the man or woman you are on a date with everytime they talk and don’t make them feel stupid. Say “thank you” when you should and “please” when necessary.
DON’T BE MANNERLESS
The list could go on and on about how to keep your blind date as sane as possible. But what matters is that you relax and allow yourself enjoy the day/evening/night.
