Community Shield Preview: Arsenal Vs. Manchester City

share on:

As two genuine heavyweights get set to do battle in the traditional season opening game in England. Manchester City, the league champions would square off against Arsenal, the winners of the FA cup. The proceedes from the match are used by the FA for schools, libraries and hospitals. Just footballs way of giving back to a country that gives it so much.

Manchester City are probably the strongest English side on paper with Hart manning the post and Kompany and Nastasic or Demicheilis, playing inbetween Clichy and Zabaleta, it is safe to say conceding goals should not be a worry however Alexis Sanchez does pose a more potent threat than Olivier Giroud as he is stronger, faster and a lot more skillful. Manchester City should be wary of the Chilean’s ability to do the impossible. Fernandinho and Yaya Toure have a tough ask ahead of them in Ramsey, Ozil and Flamini or Arteta. with the right service, Aguero or Jovetic could do damage and playing alongside Silva and Nasri, you know they would not lack the supply.

For Arsenal. Koscielny and Mertesacker are more than capable of holding the forth in defense with Debuchy and Gibbs defending a little higher up and joining in to give the attack width. Sanchez, Chamberlain and Giroud on the pitch together would give Arsenal directness and give Ozil options to knock the ball to. Sanogo and Cambers aren’t ready to start just yet but Campbell is. and Flamini and Arteta must clean up very well in midfield. for Ramsey. his energy must go with an end product and Wenger has Rosiscky and Cazorla as options on the bench.

For both sides, this game could set the tone for their seasons and the match is very winnable even though Manchester City have a slight advantage
