A Bus driver Drowns Trying to Help Drowning Son

A commercial bus driver, Oluwagbeminija Rhodes, drowned in Ogun River on Sunday as he tried to save his son, Gbeminiyi who slipped into the river.

The bus driver took his bus for washing at the river in company of his eight year old son. While his son was playing at the river bank, he slipped into the river and as the father ran through to save the little drowning boy, he got drowned instead. It was people who came to the scene that were able to save the little boy as the drowned body of the father was washed 3 kilometers off the scene.

Oluwagbeminija Rhodes’ lifeless body was later found the next day by some fishermen.

Friends and relatives have driscribed the deceased as a good man and a gentle man. His corpse has been put to rest at his yet uncompleted building in Ikolaba community, Olomoore, in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state.
