The Imo State chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association has called on Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, to look into the matter surrounding the suspension of 39 of its members from civil service with the view to recalling them.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Jane Amucha, after a breakfast meeting the governor had with the state NBA at the Banquet Hall, Imo State Government House, Owerri.
Amucha quoted the Imo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Chukwuma Ume (SAN), who also attended the meeting, to have lauded Okorocha over his positive gestures towards the advancement of the judiciary in the state.
According to the commissioner, such good gestures included the recent approval of 15 new judges for the state by the governor, the completion of the Owerri Bar Centre and donation of two buses to the Orlu and Okigwe Bar centres.
Responding, Okorocha thanked members of the Bar in the state for standing by him during his election, which he said, was surrounded by unusual circumstances.
The governor, however, charged the legal practitioners in the state to see themselves as the stabilizers of democracy who must not relent in their efforts at upholding the good image of the state.
