As if it wasn’t already bad enough for Chelsea new-boys having to stand in front of their new team-mates to sing an initiation song, but when the club joker decides to pie you in the face halfway through, it’s pretty much as low as it gets.

Sadly for Blues youngster Mitchell Beeney, he was the unwitting victim during this week’s welcome dinner.

Along with new signings Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Filipe Luis, Beeney and other youth players taken on Chelsea’s pre-season tour in Europe had to stand in front of their senior colleagues and offer a performance.

The tradition at Stamford Bridge has been in place since Dennis Wise’s days as captain and current skipper John Terry has eagerly continued the custom.

Beeney’s rendition of ‘Valerie’ was fairly cringeworthy in itself, but the teenager was spared the remainder of his song by masseur Billy McCulloch – a well-known club clown.

But the goalkeeper won’t thank tem-mate Izzy Brown for bringing the moment to the attentions of the wider public by posting the video on Instagram.
