Everyone is leaving Them: Arsenal agree fee for Southampton’s defender

The Southampton exodus looks set to continue after the club agreed a fee with Arsenal for right-back Calum Chambers.

According to the Mirror the 19-year-old will cost around £7m and provide an alternative to fellow new signing Mathieu Debuchy at right-back next season.

Arsene Wenger has been eyeing Chambers for a few months and although he has only made 24 senior appearances for the Saints, he is viewed as a big talent.

He has already captained England at U19 level and has been backed to play as a central defender in the future.

His arrival will re-open the possibility of Carl Jenkinson leaving the club, with West Ham United a possible destination.

Arsenal have been chasing right-backs all summer, having missed out on Serge Aurier to PSG and looking to move for Catania’s Gino Peruzzi.

However, with Debuchy already secured and progress being made on the Chambers deal, Wenger will be able to focus his attentions elsewhere.
