Mourinho is one of the best managers in the world but if there is one thing both Mournho and Chelsea have shown over the years it is their ability to sign the wrong strikers and let go of the wrong strikers.Chelsea let go of Daniel Sturridge two seasons ago and decided to go for Demba Ba. Well we all know how that worked out. Sturridge has been banging in goals for Liverpool and Bembeba has signed a contract with Benfica.
This season Chelsea welcomed a legend in Drogba and made it quite clear to Lukaku that he could leave the club. Is that in anyway a smart decision? Lukaku was brilliant for Everton last season in the premier league and he has finally come of age. His hold up play is fantastic and he is quick and can take on defenders. Much like Drogba, five years ago. And he hasn’t even hit his peak yet. Make no mistake about it, Drogba is not the same man he was five years ago. He is slower, less agile and not as strong as he used to be. He may have a lot more experience, but strikers like Van Persie, Suarez and Aguero have forced defenders to further improve their game making it harder to be a premier league striker. Lukaku has already passed their test but Drogba hasn’t. In Lukaku, Chelsea would have a Strong clinical striker who knows the club and the league and is on his way to the top while in Drogba, Chelsea would have a coach who can play as a striker who knows the club and the league but whose best playing days are far behind him.
