Arsenal, like so many of Europe’s top soccer clubs, are in the middle of their United States preseason tour. And whilst the Gunners’ big names are gaining valuable fitness ahead of the 2014-15 English Premier League season, one of the youngest members of their travelling party stepped up to steal the limelight today.
Although unfortunately for Arsene Wenger it was away from the soccer field.
17-year-old Gedion Zelalem, wanted by the United States Men’s National Team already after impressing in Arsenal’s youth set-up, was watching teammate Aaron Ramsey take on the London club’s all-time top goalscorer Thierry Henry in a game of one-on-one basketball when he was called upon by the Frenchman.
Henry, now playing in America for New York Red Bulls, handed the ball to the German-born Zelalem with the challenge of sinking a very, very deep shot.
