Arsenal striker chase setbacks

24 hours ago it had appeared Carlos Vela was heading to Arsenal after Real Sociedad’s president indicated as such. However Jokin Aperribay has been speaking again today and this time it is not so positive. Skysports report him as saying: “We are fortunate that the player is keen to stay in San Sebastian with us and that’s an important factor for Real Sociedad.”

Another forward strongly linked with the Gunners was Alvaro Morata after Carlo Ancelotti confirmed earlier in the week the Spanish under-21 star could leave the club. It appears however it will be at a price potentially too steep. A strong catch is attached, with it reported Real want £24 million for his signature.

THE Metro also report Arsenal are negotiating for 21-year-old Gremio centre-back Bressan, While The Mirror report the Gunners have ‘reignited’ interest in Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic.

Cesc Fabregas to Chelsea deal remains on, with The Mirror reporting Chelsea are ‘convinced’ a deal will be done. Barcelona are close to wrapping up a deal for Ivan Rakitic of Sevilla which can help pave the way for Cesc’s exit to be confirmed.

Dejan Lovren transfer request

Southampton defender Dejan Lovren has reportedly handed in a transfer request. The Croatian will be in action in the World Cup opener against Brazil, and The Mail have reported that Lovren made his intention clear via a letter to the club on May 30.

The former Lyon defender was a key part of Southampton’s side last season, and it was just last week reported that Liverpool want to sign him.

Everton to beat Manchester United to duo

Everton are apparently keeping an eye on Dutch World Cup stars. The Mail report that they are eyeing up defenders Stefan de Vrij and Bruno Martins Indi.

Roberto Martinez was spotted watching the Dutch training session yesterday, conducted by manager Louis van Gaal who will take over at Manchester United next year. Both De Vrij and Martins Indi have been linked with the Red Devils, and any offers from the Toffees would certainly test United’s resolve should their interest be genuine.
