Liverpool and Uruguay striker defends his alleged attack on Italy defender
Luis Suarez has offered his version of events in his latest biting controversy.
The Uruguay striker appeared to sink his teeth into the back of Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during his country’s 1-0 World Cup win earlier, which is under investigation by FIFA and could land the Liverpool striker with a two-year international ban if found guilty.
But speaking to reporters after the game in Natal, Suarez attempted to downplay the incident and claims there was minimal contact with the Juventus defender as they vied for the ball.
If FIFA decide to impose a ban then Suarez is at risk of missing the rest of the World Cup, after playing only two games in the tournament so far, having missed Uruguay’s opening defeat to Costa Rica through injury.
