Nigerian Teenager Becomes Youngest Councillor In UK

A 19-year-old Nigerian, Miss Aisha Eniola, has won an election into the Brent Council in London, United Kingdom. Aisha showed brilliant oratorial skills during the pre-election debates winning the hearts of the ward residents.

With 2,160 votes Aisha, the Labour candidate, prevailed over the Green Party candidate, Simon Erskine (459 votes) and the Liberal Democrat, Paul Fowler (313 votes).


Aisha, a final year student of Mass Communication in one of the London universities, is the daughter of former Welsh Harp Councillor, Francis Eniola and represents Harlesden Ward. She is the great granddaughter of the late Ohinoyi of Oboroke-Ihima, Chief Audu Ojunu.

She is currently the youngest councillor in Brent council and stated that she hoped to inspire youths to participate in politics.
