A 69-year old man died of a heart attack during Brazil’s penalty shootout win over Chile during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The man was watching the end of the World Cup game at a bar inside the 62,000-seater Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte last night when he complained of feeling unwell.

He was taken to a hospital south of the city centre but died a short time later.

According to the Brazilian newspaper Estado de Minas, the victim was one of 98 people to receive medical attention during he second round fixture.

Around 60 of them were treated at their seats by staff on duty inside the stadium.

The match went to penalties as the South American teams were drawing 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Brazil’s striker Neymar sent the host nation through to the quarter finals after scoring his side’s final penalty.
