Brazil 0 – 0 Mexico Match review #Brasil2014

share on:

Mexico thought the world a lesson in dogged defending as they battled the Brazilians on every blade of grass to earn a well deserved point.

Mexican goalie, Ochoa was the stand out performer as he was able to dive swiftly to his left to turn Neymar’s brilliant header behind in the 24th minute before timing his run to perfection to stop Paulinho’s snap shot in the 38th minute. In the second half, Ochoa was again on hand to deny Neymar at the near post before some wonderful positioning ensured Ochoa was able to stop Silva’s header from point blank range. Mexico had a few shots from distance but none of them really threatened Julio Ceaser.

Both teams will know that draws in their final game would see them qualify for the next round but with Brazil most likely to go for the jugular against Cameroon.

This is the first time brazil are failing to find a goal in a first round match since the 1978 world cup
