Hope of early reconciliation between the new Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II and siblings of his predecessor, Alhaji Ado Bayero has been dashed following the alleged refusal of the patriarch of Bayero family, Sanusi Ado Bayero, to pay a solidarity visit to the emir.

Sanusi Ado Bayero, who is the Chiroman Kano, reportedly left the country as soon as it became obvious that he had lost the succession war to the former Central bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor.

Sanusi Ado Bayero, by virtue of his title, was supposed to pay a solidarity to the Emir to douse tension raised by succession struggle.

A source disclosed that “we have history repeating itself as it may interest you to know that the same scenario played itself up when late Bayero emerged emir of Kano 51 years ago.

“In 1963, Aminu Sanusi, father of the new emir was Chiroman Kano when Ado Bayero was appointed by kingmakers and he never paid solidarity visit to Ado Bayero, but remained indifferent to emirate activities until he joined his ancestors.

“This development constitutes a headache to the new emir, who appeared in a hurry to open a new page and the situation became more worrisome considering its negative signal to the outside world.”

The source maintained that “the emir’s visit to the Queen Mother at Yakasai was part of strategies to test his popularity and acceptance. The mammoth crowd that escorted him on the visit was a clear attestation that he is gaining control.”

However, Alhaji Sanusi II has commenced consolidating his grip on the throne as he had ventured out of the palace on what palace source described as “Confidence building”
