Peter Odemwingie has been given a spot in Nigeria‘s preliminary 30-man squad for the World Cup this summer, despite not playing for his country since 2012.

The in-form Stoke striker fell out with manager Stephen Keshi at the African Cup of Nations, but may be given another chance.

Shola Ameobi also makes the provisional squad, as well as John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses.

Keshi said the final 23-man list will be announced on June 2.

The provisional squad will depart Abuja on May 25 for London ahead of the warm-up match against Scotland.  Nigeria is expected to play a friendly against Scotland on May 28 before travelling to the United States a day later to complete their final preparations for the June 12-July 13 tournament.

Nigeria will play Argentina, Bosnia and Iran in Group F.
