Nikolai Talks 2: Bird Baths, Natural Hygiene and Your Home

share on:

When you look clean you feel clean

“Cleanliness is close to Godliness”. I used to think this saying was comical, but I have come to realize it is the truth.  Chai, its 2014 and people are still misbehaving! Ladies and gents, why now? While observing people on the streets and through personal experience, I knew I had to bring a couple of things to your attention.

Let’s start off with hair for the ladies. I will be talking about both the natural and weave following. This topic is now becoming old, but I feel like people are just not getting it. It doesn’t mean because you have natural hair, that you must “naturally” permit your hair to be left in whatever condition you wake up with it in. A lot of people are walking around with their hair tangled in knots, unkept and dusty then they call it style.  ABEG!  No be so, take care of yourself please. There are many shea butters and detangling products in the market today. Then those with weaves, if you don’t know how to take care of the quality of your hair, let it go. Do everyone a favor and let it be. Why hasn’t your hair been washed or combed? Why are we seeing matted strands of extension? Is this style? From what I hear, once you buy it (even though the roots didn’t organically grow from your scalp), majority of ladies say it’s their hair right? So please take care of it as such.

Some people may not be familiar with the term ‘bird bath’, so I will explain. A bird bath is basically a swift washing of the private parts and underarms. A lot of guys claim to be on their grind 24/7 or can’t turn down for their own good blah blah blah… Does this mean that you must ignore personal hygiene? Many guys carry out bird baths before engaging in sexual intercourse. This is highly understandable because you don’t want to be smelly down there. What I find disgusting is that a lot of guys routinely carry out the most basic bird baths (only splashing water on their private parts) and don’t take showers for days upon days. This is SO disgusting and highly unacceptable. Help us help you! There is no excuse ESPECIALLY when you have running water! To prevent permeating body odor, take full showers that will enable you wash out all the bacteria and scattered contamination. When prison inmates are forced to take bird baths, they do it because they have NO CHOICE!

Last but not least, the art of keeping your home and surroundings clean. I have to be honest and say that I can be messy at times, but not dirty. Every once in a while, I might throw a couple items here and there when I get back home at night. I’m tired, its late, I don’t live with my parents, whatever! Within the next day or so, I will at least organize a decent pile of my things or just pick it up and put it back in its original spot. You people who do the opposite know yourselves out there! Why must you leave you clothes and shoes dumped in any kind of way around your bedroom, living room, kitchen etc.? Food and plates unwashed and left to mold? Personal hygiene products (used or not), left anyhow to welcome visitors? Why now why? Seriously, believe me when I say “cleanliness is close to Godliness”. At least pick up the litter, arrange a few items in a pile or in fact, just clean up! Clean up and help yourself. I am telling you, you will feel like a LOAD has been LIFTED off your shoulders. It will be a blessing.

To sum it all up, “when you look clean, you feel clean”. Your environment and personal appearance is a good reflection of yourself. Whether you believe it or not, people still judge others based on first impressions. It could be a positive or negative thought(s). You can say you don’t care what others think all you like, but it will play a vital role in your daily interactions, job encounters and future opportunities. What do you all think? Have you ever experienced anything similar to what I’ve mentioned above? Let me know.
