Ahead of the June 2014 Gubernatorial coming up soon, Former Ekiti state governor Mr. Segun Oni has moved to the other side, APC from PDP.
This move, he says, is solely for the concern of the Ekiti people and the future of the state. He said, ““We must ask ourselves who is in a better position to give Ekiti a better future, the kind of future that we want. This is why we are doing this. If you are an Ekiti person, ask yourself who is in a better position to bequeath to your children a better future.””
The former governor having made this known on Monday during a visit by the current Governor, Gov. Kayode Fayemi, pledged his allegiance with him instead of his initial running mate, Mr. Ayo Fayose
His move was applauded by the politicians present during the meeting in his residence. Fayemi most all of commended the Ex. Gov’s bravery to take the bold step to move. In his words, he said Oni showed the qualities of a true leader. “The ruling party is still in government. He could make demands, but for him, he has demonstrated that he is a man of honour from the Land of Honour, and I know that God will always bless his ways. He has followed his conscience. He has followed his conviction. He has demonstrated that character is important to our values system. We have done everything to follow in those footsteps as Ekiti sons and daughters.”
