Channing Tatum Joins The X-Men Franchise, To Play Gambit

Actor Channing Tatum has signed on to the iconic X-Men franchise, and will play mutant Gambit in upcoming movies.

Producer of the series, Lauren Shuler-Donner confirmed the development at the UK premiere of X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

“He’s a rogue, Channing; he’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau,” replied Shuler-Donner when asked what qualities make Tatum an ideal choice for the role. “And he can handle the action, as we know. And he’s got a real good heart, I know him personally, I did a movie with him [2006’s She’s the Man].”

Channing Tatum had declared interest in the role as far back as September last year, declaring his love for the character because he shared origins with the fictional character.

Tatum will take over from Taylor Kitsch, who played Gambit in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
