Abducted Dutch Nationals By Gunmen Freed

Three abducted Dutch nationals who were kidnapped last week  at Letugbene in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa state by unknown gunmen have been released.

According to NAN, the PPRO in the state, Mr. Alex Akhogbe, who confirmed this during a telephone interview, said the Commisioner of Police, Mr. Harry Okpara handed the Dutch nationals, who were released at Ekeni Community without any ransom negotiated, over to the Dutch Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. John Groffen on Saturday Night at Police HQ in Yenegoa.

The abducted men who were on a fact-finding mission to the Dodo River communities and visited Amatu Cottage Hospital built by Chevron were returning to Warri in Delta when they were taken by the armed men.

The Dutch nationals, Erhard Leffers, Marianne Hendricks-Vos and Yandries Groenenedijk, were kidnapped alongside two Nigerians on May 4, Sunny Ofehe and Femi Soewu, were however reportedly set free on May 5.
